Cards that unlock the alternatives
Priority Pass gets you into Plaza Premium at YVR Pier B/C during the Maple Leaf Lounge closure. The three Canadian cards that include it are the Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Scotiabank Platinum Amex.
Air Canada's Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge at Vancouver (YVR) closes October 14, 2026 for a full renovation and reopens in early 2028. Last day for guests is Tuesday, October 13. During the closure, eligible travellers can use one of two Air Canada Cafés at YVR — the main Café near Gate C50/D50 (06:00–22:00) and the smaller Petit Café between Gates 46 and 47 (05:00–20:00). Both are after security, Level 3 Departures, Main Terminal. The YVR International Maple Leaf Lounge, Transborder Maple Leaf Lounge, and the YVR Signature Suite all stay open as usual. As of October 8, 2026, Air Canada has NOT announced extended Priority Pass acceptance, meal vouchers, or an Aspire-style cross-lounge arrangement at YVR — unlike the swap offered during the Montreal MLL renovation. We'll update this page the moment that changes.
Editorial note: AirportLounges.ca does not have any paid relationship with Air Canada or any YVR lounge operator. This page is editorial; it is updated as new facts arrive and all claims are sourced below. If you have on-the-ground information from a recent YVR visit — the Café at Gate C50 was overflowing, a desk agent offered a Plaza Premium voucher, hours have changed — tell us and we'll verify and update.

If you fly domestically from YVR as an Aeroplan 50K/75K/Super Elite member, Business class passenger, Star Alliance Gold on an AC-operated flight, or on a premium Aeroplan credit card — the Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge was your lounge. From October 14 onward, Air Canada routes you to one of the two Air Canada Cafés instead.
The two Air Canada Cafés at YVR — what they actually are
These are grab-and-go spaces, not full lounges. Expect counter food, barista coffee, limited seating, and no washrooms inside the Café itself. Both have Air Canada's dedicated high-speed Wi-Fi and power at every seat (one of only two lounges in Canada with that spec).
Air Canada Café — Gate C50/D50 (the larger one)
- Location: Near Gate C50/D50, Level 3 Departures, Main Terminal, after security.
- Hours: 06:00–22:00 daily.
- Capacity: Larger of the two; counter-style and bar seating; expect a wait around domestic banks (06:00–08:00 and 17:00–19:00).
- Food: Nitro cold brew, Montreal bagels, grab-and-go sandwiches and bowls, a small bar.
- Wi-Fi & power: Dedicated Air Canada network; AC + USB-C at every seat.
- What it isn't: No showers, no full meal service, no quiet zone, no washrooms inside — use the terminal washrooms before you enter.
Our lounge page: Air Canada Café YVR.
Air Canada Petit Café — between Gates 46 and 47 (the smaller one)
- Location: Near Gate C46, Level 3 Departures, Main Terminal, after security.
- Hours: 05:00–20:00 daily.
- Capacity: Small-format; standing bar + a handful of seats. Opens earlier than the main Café — the practical choice for 05:00–06:00 domestic departures.
- Food: Same compact menu; less selection than the main Café.
- Wi-Fi & power: Same spec as the main Café.
Our lounge page: Air Canada Petit Café YVR.
Who the Cafés let in
Eligibility matches the Maple Leaf Lounge: Business class same-day Air Canada or Star Alliance ticket, Aeroplan Super Elite 100K / 75K / 50K, Star Alliance Gold on an AC-operated flight, Maple Leaf Club Canada or Worldwide, or holders of the premium Aeroplan credit cards (TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege, CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege, Amex Aeroplan Reserve). Walk-in day passes are not sold. Entry is via eGate — no desk check-in.
What Air Canada is NOT offering (as of October 8, 2026)
We know this is the question most readers will have. Based on Air Canada's own closure announcement and reporting from Milesopedia and LoyaltyLobby, here is what has not been offered:
- No Priority Pass acceptance extended to the Maple Leaf network. Aeroplan Elite members who use the Domestic MLL do not get temporary Priority Pass access through the closure.
- No meal vouchers. Unlike some Air Canada operational disruptions where $14 CAD meal vouchers are issued at the desk, no equivalent voucher is attached to this planned closure.
- No Plaza Premium swap. Air Canada has not reached a comp arrangement with Plaza Premium that would let affected members use Plaza Premium Pier B/C instead.
- No Aspire-style cross-lounge offer. This differs from Montreal: when the Montreal National Bank Lounge went into temporary reduced capacity in 2026, Air Canada allowed select Aeroplan Elite tiers to use the Aspire Amex Lounge as an alternative. Nothing equivalent has been announced for YVR.
- No day-pass credit at other YVR lounges. Nothing comparable to the YYZ Signature Suite closure comp announced in September 2026.
None of this is permanent. Air Canada frequently expands remediation during long closures as member pushback accumulates — Montreal's Aspire swap was not announced on day one. We'll update this page the moment anything changes.
If the two Air Canada Cafés aren't enough
If you need a seat, a shower, or a proper meal before a YVR domestic departure, there are workable options outside Air Canada's own network — but they cost money or a card.
- Plaza Premium at Pier B / Gate B15 — Full-size Priority Pass lounge in the Domestic Terminal. Walk-in from about $60 CAD, free with Priority Pass (Amex Platinum, Business Platinum, Scotiabank Platinum Amex, standalone PP membership) or DragonPass. Showers available with a $25 CAD surcharge. 05:00–22:00 daily.
- Plaza Premium Pier C outpost / Gate C29 — Smaller Priority Pass space in the same concourse as the closed MLL. Same card acceptance; shower-free. Useful for short connections.
- Pay for Maple Leaf Lounge access on a future ticket — Air Canada sells pre-flight MLL access at $25 (Latitude), $50 (Flex) and higher as a bookable add-on. This only works for the International or Transborder MLL during the Domestic closure.
- Shift to Fairmont Vancouver Airport day-use — Day-use rooms at the on-site Fairmont are quiet and private; not a lounge, but comparable price to a walk-in lounge plus private washroom + bed if you need rest.

What the renovated lounge will look like (per Air Canada)
Air Canada's announcement describes the following for the reopened lounge:
- Quiet work zones
- Improved accessibility
- A central fireplace gathering area
- Locally inspired culinary offerings
- A full-service bar
No square footage, seat count, or specific amenity updates (shower suites, business centre) have been published. Expect the finished space to broadly match the recent YYZ Domestic MLL redesign and the Montreal National Bank Lounge upgrade — editorial reviewers will have a clearer picture six to eight weeks before the reopening when PR access typically begins.
How to contact Air Canada about this closure
- Air Canada Concierge — Available to Aeroplan Super Elite 100K; discreet in-airport desk at YVR for last-minute lounge, rebooking and voucher questions. Based on the second level of the main terminal.
- Aeroplan Elite 75K / 50K — Dedicated priority telephone line published in the Aeroplan portal under "Contact us". Expect faster resolution than the general number.
- General Air Canada Reservations — 1-888-247-2262 (Canada and US). Long hold times during disruptions; use the chat flow in the mobile app instead when possible.
- In-airport, same day — Any Air Canada check-in desk at YVR can escalate; mention Super Elite / 75K / 50K / Business class and ask specifically whether any discretionary accommodation is available for the day.
We'll keep this page updated
Three things we'll be watching for and amending above as they land:
- Any extended lounge access. If Air Canada announces Priority Pass swap, Plaza Premium acceptance, or a cross-airport compensation offer, this page updates within 24 hours of a verified source.
- A specific reopening date. "Early 2028" means Q1 or Q2 2028. A specific month or day is expected 1–3 months before reopening; our next scheduled review is December 2027.
- Café capacity reality. Reader reports about seat availability, wait times, and whether the Cafés can actually absorb the displaced MLL traffic. If they're overflowing, we'll say so clearly.
Check back any time, or subscribe via the Lounge Library for monthly updates. If you've had a recent experience that would help other readers, tell us.
Frequently Asked Questions
When exactly does the Air Canada Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge at YVR close?
The last day of service for guests is Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The lounge closes for renovation on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 and is scheduled to reopen in early 2028. No specific month or day in 2028 has been confirmed by Air Canada as of October 8, 2026.
What should I do if I usually use the YVR Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge?
Air Canada's official alternative is either of two Air Canada Cafés at YVR — the larger Café near Gate C50/D50 (06:00–22:00) or the smaller Petit Café between Gates 46 and 47 (05:00–20:00). Both are after security on Level 3 Departures in the Main Terminal. Eligibility is the same as the Maple Leaf Lounge (Business class, Aeroplan 50K+, Star Alliance Gold, Maple Leaf Club, premium Aeroplan credit cards).
Can I use Priority Pass or Plaza Premium instead?
Priority Pass is Amex-only in Canada and does not grant Maple Leaf Lounge access either way. However, Plaza Premium at YVR Pier B (Gate B15) accepts Priority Pass, DragonPass, and walk-in day passes from about $60 CAD — this is the full-size paid alternative in the domestic terminal and stays open throughout the Maple Leaf Lounge renovation. See our Priority Pass lounges in Canada guide for exactly which cards work.
Is Air Canada offering compensation or vouchers for this closure?
Not as of October 8, 2026. There is no announced meal voucher, no Priority Pass swap, no Plaza Premium comp, and no cross-airport credit. This is unlike the Montreal MLL renovation where select Aeroplan Elite tiers were granted Aspire Amex Lounge access as an alternative. Air Canada may expand remediation later; this page updates when that happens.
Does the YVR International or Transborder Maple Leaf Lounge close too?
No. Only the Domestic Maple Leaf Lounge at Pier C closes. The International Maple Leaf Lounge (Gate D52), the Transborder/US Departures Maple Leaf Lounge (Gates E85–E86), and the YVR Signature Suite all stay open as usual throughout the renovation period.
Do the Air Canada Cafés at YVR have showers?
No. The Cafés are grab-and-go spaces centred on food and barista coffee. Neither has shower facilities. For a shower in the domestic terminal during the closure, Plaza Premium at Pier B offers shower rooms for a $25 CAD surcharge on top of lounge entry (free with Priority Pass or DragonPass). The YVR International Maple Leaf Lounge and Plaza Premium First (international) have showers for travellers connecting internationally.
What will the renovated lounge look like?
Air Canada says the reopened lounge will include quiet work zones, improved accessibility, a central fireplace gathering area, locally inspired culinary offerings, and a full-service bar. No specific seat count, square footage, or amenity detail (showers, business centre, shower suite count) has been published yet.
