The card that opens Centurion when you fly US

The Amex Platinum is the only Canadian card with Centurion Lounge access. Net cost ~$399 after $200 travel + $200 dining credits.

See the Amex Platinum

There are zero Centurion Lounges in Canada and American Express has not announced plans to open one. For Canadian Amex Platinum cardholders, your Centurion access only applies when you fly through a US airport that has one (closest to Toronto: Las Vegas, New York LaGuardia, New York JFK; closest to Vancouver: Seattle-Tacoma, San Francisco). In Canada, your Amex Platinum opens Plaza Premium, Priority Pass Select, Aspire lounges and the AF-KLM Lounge in Montreal instead — a different network, but functionally similar coverage for Canadian departures. Verified October 14, 2026.

Why Canadians search for "Centurion Lounge Canada"

A Canadian Amex Platinum cardholder reasonably assumes that if their card includes Centurion access, there must be a Centurion Lounge somewhere in Canada. There isn't — and never has been. The Centurion network is Amex's own flagship lounge program, and Amex has concentrated it in the US (plus select international locations) rather than opening Canadian sites. Your Amex Platinum Canada benefits are built around that reality: you get the Global Lounge Collection (Priority Pass + Plaza Premium + Aspire + Centurion + Delta Sky Club), but the Centurion piece only activates when you fly through a US airport that has one.

Full US Centurion footprint (October 2026)

Amex operates Centurion Lounges at Charlotte (CLT), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York JFK (T4), New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark (EWR), Phoenix (PHX), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), Washington Dulles (IAD), Washington Reagan National (DCA), Atlanta (ATL), and Philadelphia (PHL). Not every US airport has one — notable absences include Buffalo (BUF), Detroit (DTW), Chicago O'Hare (ORD), and Boston (BOS).

International Centurion Lounges (worth knowing if you connect)

  • London Heathrow (LHR Terminal 3) — the only European Centurion
  • Hong Kong (HKG)
  • Melbourne (MEL)
  • Sydney (SYD)
  • Buenos Aires (EZE)
  • São Paulo (GRU)
  • Mexico City (MEX)
  • Mumbai (BOM)
  • Delhi (DEL)

A Canadian flying LHR via connection has a Centurion option. A Canadian flying direct Toronto to Paris does not.

What your Amex Platinum opens in Canada instead

Since Centurion isn't an option on a Canadian departure, your Amex Platinum relies on the other Global Lounge Collection networks:

  • Plaza Premium — direct entry at all Toronto Pearson (T1 Domestic + Transborder; T3 Landmark + Domestic + Transborder), Vancouver (Pier B + Pier C + Pier D International + E-side US + Plaza Premium First), Edmonton (both locations), Winnipeg, and Montreal's Desjardins Odyssey Transborder.
  • Aspire — direct entry at Calgary International + Transborder, Montreal Aspire American Express (Domestic) + Aspire International, Ottawa Aspire Salon, Halifax Aspire (currently affected by Air Canada construction), and Billy Bishop Aspire.
  • Priority Pass Select — all above lounges plus the SkyTeam Lounge at YVR and the AF-KLM Lounge at Montreal outside its restricted 3:30-6:30 p.m. window.
  • Delta Sky Club — only when flying Delta the same day, so limited practical value from Canadian departures unless you're on a Delta-coded flight.
  • Lufthansa lounges — ended October 1, 2026, no longer part of the collection.

For a Canadian who flies Canadian hubs, the Amex Platinum at $799 opens the widest Canadian lounge network of any single card — just without the Centurion piece until you connect through a US airport.

In practice: Centurion Lounges are a step above Plaza Premium or Aspire on food and finish — but if you're departing Toronto or Vancouver and never connecting via a Centurion airport, that gap doesn't matter. For a frequent US connector (especially via Seattle, JFK, or Las Vegas), Centurion access does meaningful work.

Will there ever be a Centurion Lounge in Canada?

Amex has not announced plans, and the Canadian lounge market is dominated by Plaza Premium's long-term airport contracts. Industry reporting through October 2026 has not identified a Canadian Centurion in Amex's expansion pipeline. For planning purposes, treat Centurion as a US + international benefit of the Canadian Amex Platinum, not a Canadian benefit.

Which card is best if Centurion matters to you?

You fly US routes 5+ times a year

The Amex Platinum at $799 (net ~$399 after credits) is the only Canadian card that opens Centurion. Access rules updated July 8, 2026: Canadian cardholders can bring one guest, who must be on the same flight. Centurion access is unlimited and uncapped (unlike the Priority Pass and Plaza Premium benefits, which cap at 6 visits each from January 1, 2027).

You fly almost entirely from Canadian hubs

Centurion access won't do much work for you. Compare the Amex Platinum ($799) against the Scotiabank Platinum American Express ($399) — the latter gives you 10 Priority Pass visits a year at half the cost. If you'll fly fewer than 10 times from Canadian hubs, the Scotiabank Platinum Amex is often the better value.

You want Centurion AND Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges

No single card gives you both. The Amex Platinum opens Centurion but NOT Maple Leaf Lounges. The Amex Aeroplan Reserve opens Maple Leaf Lounges but NOT Centurion. Many frequent flyers hold both at a combined $1,398 — see our best Aeroplan card guide for whether the stack math works for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Centurion Lounge in Canada?

No. American Express has not opened a Centurion Lounge at any Canadian airport and has not announced plans to do so. Canadian Amex Platinum cardholders access Centurion Lounges only when flying through a US airport (or select international hubs like London Heathrow, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Mexico City) that has one.

What's the closest Centurion Lounge to Toronto?

Las Vegas (LAS), New York LaGuardia (LGA), and New York JFK Terminal 4 are the closest Centurion Lounges to Toronto Pearson (YYZ), each roughly 5–5.5 hours flight. Buffalo and Detroit — the closest US airports geographically — do NOT have Centurion Lounges.

What's the closest Centurion Lounge to Vancouver?

Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) is the closest Centurion Lounge to Vancouver (YVR) — roughly a 1-hour flight. San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) are the next options.

Does the Canadian Amex Platinum include Centurion Lounge access?

Yes — when you fly through a US airport that has one, or through select international Centurion locations (London Heathrow, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Mexico City, Mumbai, Delhi, Buenos Aires, São Paulo). You and one guest on the same flight get in. There are no Centurion Lounges in Canada, so this benefit does not apply to Canadian departures.

What's the best Amex lounge in Canada if there's no Centurion?

The Plaza Premium T3 Landmark at Toronto Pearson (Gate C32) is consistently the strongest-reviewed independent lounge in Canada, and the Amex Platinum gets you direct entry. The Plaza Premium First at Vancouver (YVR) is a premium-tier Plaza Premium lounge — $110 direct entry, $30 upgrade from the standard Plaza Premium International next door, Priority Pass NOT accepted. The AF-KLM Lounge at Montreal (outside its 3:30-6:30 p.m. restricted window) is also strong.

Can I buy a one-day pass to a Centurion Lounge?

No. Centurion Lounges don't sell walk-in day passes. You need either an Amex Platinum / Business Platinum / Centurion Black Card, or an invitation from a cardholder, plus a same-day boarding pass within 3 hours of departure. The simplest path for an occasional traveller: apply for the Amex Platinum before a US trip, use the welcome offer, and ensure you clear the US airport Centurion is in.
