The card that opens the most YYZ lounges
The Amex Platinum gets direct entry at 5 of 9 YYZ lounges plus Aspire T3 via Priority Pass — the single widest coverage of any Canadian card at Toronto Pearson.
Toronto Pearson (YYZ) is Canada's largest and most lounge-rich airport — nine distinct spaces across Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. For a Toronto-based international flyer, the Amex Platinum ($799) is the single strongest card: it opens 5 Plaza Premium lounges plus the T3 Aspire via Priority Pass. For Air Canada loyalists the Amex Aeroplan Reserve or CIBC Aeroplan VIP ($599) unlock the three Maple Leaf Lounges in T1 — the Signature Suite requires an invitation that no credit card provides. For the cheapest access, the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite ($150) gives six DragonPass visits that work at the same Plaza Premium locations. Verified October 14, 2026.

Every lounge at YYZ by terminal and zone
Terminal 1 — Air Canada's home terminal (Star Alliance)
| Lounge | Zone | Direct card access | Membership networks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air Canada Signature Suite | International (Pier F, past security) | None — invitation only | Air Canada Signature Class international ticket or Aeroplan Super Elite 100K travelling on a Signature Class routing. No credit card unlocks it. |
| Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge International | International (Pier F) | TD Aeroplan VIP, CIBC Aeroplan VIP, Amex Aeroplan Reserve | Aeroplan 50K+/Super Elite, Star Alliance Gold, Maple Leaf Club. Not Priority Pass eligible. |
| Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Domestic | Domestic | Same Aeroplan cards + the AC Café option | Not Priority Pass eligible |
| Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Transborder | US Transborder (Pier F, past US customs) | Same Aeroplan cards | Not Priority Pass eligible. Once you clear US customs you cannot return. |
| Plaza Premium Lounge T1 Domestic | Domestic | Amex Platinum (direct), Business Platinum | Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in day pass (~$59 CAD for 2 hours) |
| Plaza Premium Lounge T1 Transborder | US Transborder | Amex Platinum (direct) | Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in |
| Plaza Premium Lounge T1 International | International (Gate E77) | CLOSED for full rebuild as of December 27, 2025 — no reopening date announced. T1 international currently has NO Priority Pass lounge. | |
| Air Canada Café T1 | Domestic | Same Aeroplan cards as Maple Leaf Lounge; grab-and-go format | Not Priority Pass eligible |
| Be Relax Spa T1 | International/Domestic | Priority Pass members get a treatment credit (not seated lounge access) | Priority Pass |
Terminal 3 — SkyTeam, Oneworld, WestJet, Transat
| Lounge | Zone | Direct card access | Membership networks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plaza Premium Lounge T3 International (Landmark) | International (Gate C32) | Amex Platinum (direct), Business Platinum | Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in. Plaza Premium's YYZ flagship — most consistent food and bar. |
| Plaza Premium Lounge T3 Domestic | Domestic (near Gate B24) | Amex Platinum (direct) | Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in |
| Plaza Premium Lounge T3 Transborder | US Transborder (past US customs, upstairs near Gate A10) | Amex Platinum (direct) | Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in. 2-hour stay on PP. |
| American Airlines Admirals Club | US Transborder | Admirals Club membership, Citi/AAdvantage Executive card (US only — not useful for most Canadians) | Oneworld Emerald, same-day First/Business on AA |
| KLM Crown Lounge (Air France – KLM) | International | AF/KL Business Class same-day, SkyTeam Elite Plus, Flying Blue Platinum | Priority Pass has been reported as accepted — verify in the app before you walk over |
| Aspire Lounge T3 | International | Amex Platinum (direct), Priority Pass, DragonPass, walk-in | Not affected by the 2027 Amex Platinum cap (Aspire network stays uncapped) |
Nine lounge spaces across the two terminals, plus the Be Relax spa credit. YYZ has the most Priority Pass coverage of any Canadian airport — but losing the T1 International Plaza Premium (closed Dec 2025) leaves a real gap on long-haul T1 international departures.
The seven cards worth considering for YYZ
1. American Express Platinum — $799
The strongest overall card for YYZ. Direct entry at both Plaza Premium T3 (flagship) and all three T1 Plaza Premiums (where still open), plus Aspire T3, plus Priority Pass elsewhere. Centurion access when you connect through a US hub. Through December 31, 2026 Plaza Premium and Priority Pass visits are unlimited with one guest; from January 1, 2027 both networks cap at 6 visits each per year unless $20,000 is spent on the account.
- Annual fee: $799 (net ~$399 after $200 travel + $200 dining credits)
- YYZ-specific advantage: opens 5 of the 9 YYZ lounge spaces directly, and a 6th (Aspire T3) via Priority Pass. Covers both T1 and T3 international, domestic, and transborder — rare for a single card.
- Who it suits: frequent flyers across airlines; anyone who connects through US hubs and wants Centurion
2. Amex Aeroplan Reserve — $599
The only Canadian card that stacks Priority Pass on top of Maple Leaf Lounge access. Priority Pass visits are charged at the prevailing US$35 rate — the fee is waived, the visits are not. For YYZ regulars flying Air Canada, the three T1 Maple Leaf Lounges + T1 Signature Suite restaurant (not the lounge) are the real value. 3x points on Air Canada spend makes it the fastest-earning card for AC flyers.
3. CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege — $599
Our ranked #1 Aeroplan card. Unlimited Maple Leaf Lounge access + 6 DragonPass visits per year that work at the Plaza Premium YYZ lounges. Supplementary card $149 (cheapest in class). TD VIP is nearly identical and wins when its welcome offer is better; see our full Aeroplan card comparison.
4. TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege — $599
Mirror of the CIBC card with slightly different insurance limits. Also opens the three T1 Maple Leaf Lounges plus 6 DragonPass visits a year. Both are confirmed with the one-guest Maple Leaf Lounge benefit only through December 31, 2026 — the 2027 policy is unannounced.
5. Scotiabank Platinum American Express — $399
Priority Pass with 10 visits a year for the primary cardholder, 4 for a supplementary, no foreign transaction fee. For a YYZ-based traveller who flies 2–4 international trips a year, 10 visits comfortably covers the Plaza Premium T3 Landmark, Aspire T3, and the T3 Transborder when flying US.
6. Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite — $150
Six DragonPass visits per year, often first-year waived, no foreign transaction fee. Covers the same Plaza Premium YYZ lounges as Priority Pass, with a smaller visit pool. Best entry-level card for YYZ flyers.
7. BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege — $599
Six DragonPass visits per year plus a $200 annual lifestyle credit. Only compelling if you already bank with BMO and will use the lifestyle credit; otherwise CIBC or TD VIP give you more lounge value for the same fee.
Pick the right card by scenario
| Your situation | Best card | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Frequent flyer, multiple airlines through YYZ | Amex Platinum | Opens 5 of 9 YYZ lounges directly. Credits bring net cost near $399. Also Centurion access on US connections. |
| Air Canada loyalist (Aeroplan 50K+ or Business class) | CIBC Aeroplan VIP or Amex Aeroplan Reserve | CIBC for best supplementary pricing. Reserve for heavy AC spenders (3x points) and Priority Pass bundle. |
| WestJet or Transat flyer (T3) | Amex Platinum or Scotiabank Platinum Amex | Both open T3 Plaza Premium Landmark + Aspire T3 + T3 Transborder. |
| Occasional traveller (2–4 trips/year) | Scotiabank Platinum Amex ($399) | 10 Priority Pass visits/year — comfortably covers typical YYZ use at under half the Platinum's fee. |
| Cheapest card with any YYZ access | Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite ($150) | 6 DragonPass visits/year covers all Plaza Premium YYZ locations. First year often waived. |
| Flying Air Canada Signature Class international from T1 | Air Canada Signature Class ticket | Only way into the Signature Suite — no card at any price unlocks it. |
YYZ-specific tactics
- T1 international is the gap right now. Plaza Premium T1 International (Gate E77) closed December 27, 2025 for a full rebuild with no reopening date. If you're flying international out of T1, your only options are the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge International (Aeroplan premium cards) or the Signature Suite (invitation only). Priority Pass holders have no T1 international option.
- Terminal 1 vs Terminal 3 — most lounges don't cross. Air Canada = T1. SkyTeam, Oneworld, WestJet, Transat = T3. Your card only matters within the terminal your flight departs from.
- T3 Landmark is Plaza Premium's YYZ flagship. Gate C32 international. Best food, best bar, consistently the strongest reviewed Priority Pass lounge in Toronto. Arrive early during European departure banks (3:00–9:00 p.m.) — the busiest Canadian lounge Priority Pass reports.
- Transborder gotcha: once you clear US customs, no return. Both terminals have Plaza Premium and Maple Leaf Lounges on the US side of CBP; use them, don't try to visit a non-transborder lounge first.
- Pre-book Plaza Premium T3 Landmark when flying evenings. Priority Pass pre-booking is sometimes available on the T3 flagship. A reserved seat is one a full lounge cannot refuse.
- Be Relax Spa T1 is a treatment credit, not a seat. Priority Pass members get a credited treatment but no lounge entry — don't count it as lounge access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which credit card is best for Toronto Pearson (YYZ) airport lounge access?
For most YYZ flyers the Amex Platinum at $799 is the single strongest card — it opens all five surviving Plaza Premium lounges at YYZ directly, plus the Aspire T3 via Priority Pass, with net cost near $399 after credits. For Air Canada regulars flying out of T1, the CIBC Aeroplan VIP or Amex Aeroplan Reserve ($599 each) unlock the three Maple Leaf Lounges.
How many lounges does Toronto Pearson have?
Nine distinct lounge spaces plus a Be Relax spa credit. Terminal 1: Air Canada Signature Suite, three Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges (international, domestic, transborder), two Plaza Premium lounges (domestic + transborder; T1 International closed for rebuild Dec 2025), and the Air Canada Café. Terminal 3: three Plaza Premium lounges (Landmark international, domestic, transborder), American Airlines Admirals Club, KLM Crown Lounge, and Aspire Lounge T3.
Does Priority Pass work at the Air Canada Signature Suite at YYZ?
No. The Signature Suite is restricted to Air Canada Signature Class international ticket holders and Aeroplan Super Elite 100K travelling on a Signature Class routing. No credit card and no membership — Priority Pass, DragonPass, Amex Platinum, Centurion — provides access. If you want a lounge at YYZ T1 international without a Signature Class ticket, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge International is the top available option.
Is the T1 International Plaza Premium at YYZ still closed?
Yes, as of October 14, 2026. Plaza Premium T1 International (near Gate E77) closed December 27, 2025 for a full rebuild with no reopening date announced. If you're departing international from T1 on Priority Pass, there is currently no Priority Pass lounge in your zone — your options are to use a non-Priority Pass lounge on an Aeroplan premium card, upgrade to a lounge in another zone before security re-screening, or wait at the gate.
What's the best YYZ Priority Pass lounge?
Most reviewers rank the Plaza Premium T3 Landmark (Gate C32) as Toronto Pearson's best Priority Pass lounge — strong food, full bar, and the widest footprint. The T1 Domestic Plaza Premium is a close second. T3 Transborder is excellent if you're flying US — just note that once you clear US customs you cannot return to the non-transborder lounges.
Is Amex Platinum worth $799 just for YYZ lounge access?
If YYZ is your home airport, probably yes — the $799 drops to about $399 net after credits, and the Amex Platinum opens 5 of the 9 YYZ lounges directly plus Aspire T3 via Priority Pass. If you fly 10+ times a year through YYZ at a $50-ish per-entry equivalent, the math works easily. For 2–4 trips a year, the Scotiabank Platinum Amex ($399) is a better value because 10 Priority Pass visits also cover the same lounges.
