The Cathay Pacific Lounge at Vancouver International Airport occupies a 510 sq metre, 108-seat mezzanine above Pier D's international gates. Designed by London studio Studioilse, the space features cherry walls, limestone floors, hardwood ceilings, brass highlights, and Asian-inspired hanging light fixtures. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views over the tarmac, runway, and North Shore mountains.

The Signature Noodle Bar

Cathay's standout feature is the open-kitchen Noodle Bar, where chefs cook dishes to order: wonton noodle soup, dan dan noodles, and Hong Kong-style fish ball noodle soup — all presented in handsome tableware on traditional trays. A full drinks selection rounds out the offer: sparkling wine (Ferrari Brut), red and white wines, beer, spirits, juices, and fresh espresso.

The Pantry

The Pantry runs alongside the Noodle Bar as a self-serve buffet, offering tapas-style plates, antipasto, charcuterie, artisan cheese, seasonal fruit, and desserts with a globally inspired menu. Soft drinks, juices, and a barista-quality espresso machine are available throughout the day.

The Bureau

The Bureau business centre houses three Mac computers each with a dedicated printer and tarmac views — a rarity in Canadian lounges. Two ADA-compliant shower suites feature walk-in rain showers, limestone finishes, brass fixtures, and Aesop bath products. Every seat has embedded power outlets and USB-A/C ports, so devices stay charged without hunting for sockets.

This is an eligibility-only lounge — no walk-in or pay-at-door access is available. Note: American Airlines AAdvantage members are not eligible when travelling solely on North American routes.

Access at a Glance: Who Gets In

The Cathay Pacific Lounge at YVR (also searched as the CX Lounge or Cathay Vancouver) is a oneworld-only facility. It does not accept Priority Pass, DragonPass, or walk-in day passes. Access is limited to Cathay Pacific First and Business Class passengers, Marco Polo Club Silver / Gold / Diamond members, oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status holders on any oneworld carrier, and First / Business Class passengers on any oneworld member airline flying same-day out of YVR.

What Makes This Lounge Notable

Designed by London studio Studioilse, the 108-seat mezzanine above Pier D features a signature Noodle Bar with made-to-order dan-dan noodles and wonton soup, The Bureau — a dedicated iMac-equipped workstation suite unique among Canadian airport lounges, and a Solus Chair area with individual reclining pods for pre-flight rest. The lounge is consistently rated among the top workspaces of any airport lounge in Canada.

When to Arrive

The lounge opens roughly four hours before Cathay Pacific departures out of YVR — one morning bank and one evening bank each day. Because it aligns with CX schedules rather than staying open all day, it rarely reaches capacity, making it one of the calmest premium lounges at YVR.

The Solus Chair area — Canada's only purpose-built lounge sleep pods

The Cathay Pacific Lounge at YVR is the only Canadian airport lounge with dedicated individual reclining pods. Studioilse's design places Solus Chair units in a semi-enclosed configuration with high partitions, dimmable overhead lighting, and a side table with power outlet at each seat. These are the closest thing to a purpose-built sleep pod in any Canadian airport as of September 2026 — Napcabs, GoSleep, and other capsule-hotel-style pods have no Canadian installations.
